Half Marathon

My sister Mary and I ran the Farmington half marathon July 10. We  trained for this for 10 weeks.  We ran 3 days in the week and then Saturday. Saturday was our big runs. It started out at 6 miles and went up to 12 miles. When it was my 10 mile run, it was pouring rain and I still ran my 10 miles... in the rain. I don't recommend doing that. NOT FUN AT ALL!  :)   Mary and I wanted to wear matching shirts for the race. I got a text one day from Mary with a picture of a Twilight shirt and said that she found and already bought our marathon shirts. ha ha! This was a joke...right??? No, she was serious. I told Mary that we are going to get some unwanted attention if we wear the shirts. She assured me that no one will notice us. I said okay, and it was a little joke of ours to wear these shirts. As soon as we got to the race to get our numbers and such we were greeted with a, " Hello Twilight girls." I looked at my sister. Then, we went to the bathroom and about 3 girls commented on our shirts. While running our race, there were people yelling out," GO TEAM JACOB!" MARY, I WILL BE PICKING OUT THE SHIRTS NEXT TIME! It was actually really funny!

The night before the race Jake and I drove the 13 miles where we were suppose to run. It was a little discouraging since a lot of it was up hill. And not a lot of shady areas. I trained on the track at  Ellison Park which is all flat, so I was scared. But Mary and I encouraged each other the whole way and we made it. I ran the half marathon in 2 hours 19 minutes 22 seconds.

THis was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But it was such a great feeling knowing that I accomplished something. I worked toward it, and completed it. It was awesome!

It was nice to have the support of my parents, husband, kids, Gary, and my nephew Hunter. My kids even made us posters that they held up as we crossed the finish line.

Dylan's sign ( says Go Mom with lots of hearts)

Brook's sign ( says Go Mom. You are the best.)

The sign Brooks and Dylan made for Mary. It says, Go Mary! Woot!

We got a shirt and a cool medal.

It was really cool because they had physical therapists there to stretch us out. I think it really helped me from being so sore the next day.

Ryann with a cow bell. When Mary ran another  Half Marathon in Idaho, the big thing was to bring a cow bell and ring it when you are crossing the finish line. But they found out it was definitely an Idaho thing. ha ha! There were no other cow bell  in Farmington. ha!

Mary and I had so much fun running the half marathon in Farmington. It was such a cool experience to run it with my little sis. Love you Mary. And I love all of the people that came and supported us both. Thanks to Jake for supporting me going on ALL of my runs to train for this.  Love you guys!!!

I love how in the picture of us walking right after the finish line you are holding onto my arm. Ha! Its crazy how running something that you are prepared for can drain you so much! It was definitely cooler to run it with you than by myself - even though you didn't give me any time in between runs! Next time lets run a half marathon that is FLAT! Your boys were cute to make me a poster too. I remember Dylan telling me about how drawing your hearts on your poster took him 'like all day'! I told you that you would decide to do another one....even when you were denying it and saying that was the hardest thing you had ever done. We'll have to keep running these until we can be like sports bra lady and have six packs and awesome calves. Love you Anna!!!
